Paititi has the most authentic and innovative collection of handmade ceramic
vases from Peru.
These vases exemplify Chulucanas ceramic artistry at its highest expertise and
evolution. Our ceramic vases are crafted entirely by hand.
First, the clay is shaped and let dry. Fired in a wood-burning kiln at 900
degrees, it is then hand-painted with colored slip and liquid clay.
A controlled smoking process using dried mango leaves achieves the dark tones. Finally, the piece is waxed and polished with sand.
Each vase passes through the hands of nine artisans to give it a unique
finish and accomplish the highest quality.
Signed by the artisans, these ceramic pieces are entirely unique. Not even the artisan can recreate
one. Because it is crafted by hand, occasionally there may be small "imperfections"
such as color inconsistencies, porosity, or asymmetrical brushstrokes. This
only confirms the originality and authenticity of the vases.
Each vase is truly a piece of art. Enjoy it!
